5 on a Friday

The photo from this blog post is from 2005 when I was traveling abroad in Paris when I was 15! The city was campaigning to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. They lost to London and then won the bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

1. I recently completed the Paris Conqueror Challenge and my medal is on its way! It was fun to be “in” Paris during the Olympic Games. The 32-mile route took me to places like the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and some lesser-known spots. I also planted five trees along the way through Veritree.

2. Of course, we love a setting in the City of Lights (or is it Love?). Check out this list of books set in Paris. I’ve read The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, and The Room on Rue Amelie by Kristin Harmel.

3. School is (almost) back in session! I’m always curious to learn about how families schedule around work, school, and kid activities. I utilize a Family Google calendar, my work calendar, and a daily written planner. The written planner helps me understand where I have enough time to squeeze in some fun-for-me activities like a long walk or reading in a coffee shop. Let me know your favorite planner to use.

4. I’m always trying to drink more water and I have found that filling up my large jug of water each morning is just easier than filling up cup after cup. I use this 80 ounce water bottle and try to drink the whole thing!

5. It is such a delight when I receive V.E. Schwab’s newsletter in my inbox! She wrote my favorite book of all time, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, and the name of her newsletter gives a nod to the book. I love the segments in her newsletter where she gives us a “behind the scenes” look of what it is like to be a writer.
