Happy Friday! I hope it is actually starting to feel like Fall where you are. It is officially pants and sweater weather in the morning here. This week, I’m sharing reflections about a recent read, a TBR update, a gift idea, and my 2022 reading recap. I’m also revealing the habit-streak that I broke this week!

• Mythology •
I recently listened to the Modern Mrs. Darcy mythology class and it was a good reminder about how understanding allusions enriches my reading life. I finished Olympus, Texas by Stacey Swann a few days ago. I didn’t need to know anything about mythology to understand the plot, but it did make my reading experience more enjoyable. I’m looking forward to the MMD author chat next week. This is definitely going to be one of my favorite reads of the year!

• TBR Update •
I was so happy to see the cover reveal for Great Big Beautiful Life! Emily Henry is one of my auto-read authors, so I know I will be reading this book next year (release date April 22, 2025).

• Gift Ideas •
A few years ago, my husband and son started gifting (assembled) LEGO flower bouquets to me for various holidays. They never wilt, don’t require any water, and are overall very low maintenance – my kind of flowers! They also make an excellent centerpiece. If you are looking for a fun DIY project or gift that can be displayed for years to come, set aside a few hours to build a flower bouquet, there are so many to choose from!

• Breaking a Streak •
A few weeks ago, I wrote about being on an upward spiral. Part of that, for me, is having a regular morning walking routine. I recently had a 68-day streak of walking at least one mile per day (and sometimes five)! This past Sunday I just found myself in a situation where I wasn’t able to get it done due to lack of morning light and an early basketball game. The good news is that I was successful in starting back up again on Monday morning. It made me think about Gretchen Rubin’s 21 Strategies for Habit Formation. The more I stack my habit strategies, the more likely I am to keep it up!

• 2022 Reading Recap •
In 2022, I read more books than ever before! That year solidified my love for historical fiction after reading more from authors like Kate Quinn, Kristin Harmel, Ariel Lawhon, Chanel Cleeton, Kristin Hannah, Marie Benedict, and Amor Towles.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!
