Happy Friday, and a Good Friday to all who celebrate! Today I’m sharing “Two Truths and a Lie,” a Lattes for Literacy update, a Little Free Library adventure, a few curated book lists by yours truly, and I’m celebrating 50 posts on EBB!
Two Truths and a Lie
This week I started playing “Two Truths and a Lie” with my first grader after school. It has been a huge hit! He is excited for me to guess the “lie” and it opens up conversation that we probably would not have had otherwise about the “truths” in his day.
One of my favorite truths so far is him telling me that he learned all about idioms at school. His favorites are “smart cookie” and “break a leg!”
Here are two truths and a lie about me, I’ll reveal the answers next week!
- I lived next to a volcano.
- I studied abroad in London.
- I was a competitive gymnast.
Lattes for Literacy
A few weeks ago I announced a new project called “Lattes for Literacy” where I modify my daily coffee order to donate money and raise awareness for local literacy programs.
It’s been two weeks and I’m happy to report that I’ve saved $17.85 so far. My goal is to explore how we can modify our daily habits to benefit our communities.
I’ve decided that my first act will be to join the local Friends of the Library program. I’m hoping to achieve that in the next week or two! I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
In the meantime, check out my Lattes for Literacy page!

Take a Book. Share a Book.
Yellowface by RF Kuang was a 5-star read for me and over the weekend I was ready to find my next great book. So of course I visited a local Little Free Library!

There was such a great selection including books by Louise Penny, Amor Towles, and Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

I ended up leaving with The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride and can’t wait to dive in!

Book Lists
You know I love a list, especially a book list! I’ve started curating my own book lists over at Bookshop.org. Check out a few below!

50 Posts!
This week I received a notification that I have made 50 posts on East Bay Bookshelf! If you’re new here, my very first post was on June 28, 2024 (and if you read it, you can see I’ve come such a long way since then).
I’ve been consistently posting a “5 on a Friday” newsletter each week which has evolved over time. About two months ago I started posting the “Tuesday TBR” where I share one book on my “to be read” list. My next regular post is on Mondays called “Lattes for Literacy” where I share all about my project to support local literacy programs.
If you subscribe, you will still only receive one email per week, but you can keep more up to date with all my posts by following me on Instagram and Facebook!
I’ve been wanting to write about books and supporting libraries and bookstores for years. Thanks for following along – it means so much to me!
