Happy Friday! We are in the home stretch of wrapping up the school year and kicking off summer vacation in our house. My husband and I also celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this week! (He brewed all the beer for our wedding back then, and even won some awards!)

Author Event
Last week I had the opportunity to attend Rakestraw’s event to celebrate the paperback publication of Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Simon Van Booy (Sipsworth) asked Shelby to read a few pages from the book to kick things off – I loved the chapter she chose from the point of view of Marcellus, the octopus. This was her debut novel, so she told us about her transition from spreadsheets to writing in Starbucks to going down YouTube rabbit holes – finding videos of naughty octopuses. She answered questions about the movie and how the decision to cast Sally Field was made, which made me tear up a little!

Book Friend Meet-Up!
On Saturday I met up with bookish friends at Orinda Books. We discussed our summer reading plans and I left with many more book recommendations! Every single time I meet up with this group someone recommends This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub to me, so that’s what I ended up buying!

Project Second Chance
This week in my Lattes for Literacy update, I share all about the donation I made to Project Second Chance, Contra Costa Library’s adult literacy program. It’s amazing what a few cents or dollars saved on my daily coffee order can add up to!

Jane and Dan at the End of the World
Check out this week’s Tuesday TBR to find out why Jane and Dan at the End of the World landed on my “to be read” list!

Hardcover, paperback, e-reader, or audio?
In Beyond the Bookshelf this week, I dive into my preferred book format and the format I read most (they are not the same).

Bonus: E-book Deal of the Week
I couldn’t keep today’s update to just five bookish things, so check out this great e-book deal about an Olympic ice skating scandal.

That’s it for this week, I hope you have a fabulous long weekend including long stretches of reading time!
