It’s a donation week!
Today I made a $50.00 donation to the Walnut Creek Library Foundation. I also requested a 50% employer match, so maybe it will increase to $75.00! Will keep you posted.
So, what is the Walnut Creek Library Foundation? From the website:
The Walnut Creek Library Foundation exists to enrich the experience at our Walnut Creek libraries. We do this through programming, fundraising and advocacy.
Walnut Creek has two public libraries that serve central Contra Costa County – the Walnut Creek Library and the Ygnacio Valley Library. The libraries are part of the 27-branch Contra Costa County Library system.
The WCLF also funds Adult, Teen, and Children’s Programs and just celebrated its 14th annual Author’s Gala, which helps support the county’s electronic collection (like Libby, which I use almost every single day!).
Check out my previous donations and how I’m supporting local libraries and literacy programs in my community:
- Week 3: Friends of the Danville Library
- Week 7: Project Second Chance
After today’s donation, my Lattes for Literacy balance is back to just $4.95. If you are interested in learning more about this personal project, you can read about how I got started.
My close friends and family sometimes ask me how they can support my efforts, and I have to admit that the best thing anyone can do is to tell me how YOU are supporting libraries and literacy in YOUR community! The first step is just getting a library card, and your support can be as simple as borrowing books (physical or electronic), attending events, or making a small monetary donation to a program.
