Happy Friday! I’m so happy to be back in your inbox today with 5 bookish updates!

Book Club Charcuterie

I hosted book club last Thursday night and my husband made this charcuterie board for us to snack on. He even made the salami roses (a hidden talent)! This board consisted of: salami, prosciutto, pepperoni, cheddar, Gouda, crackers, olives, mixed nuts, dried cranberries, chocolate covered almonds, jelly, strawberries and apples.

Free: My Search for Meaning by Amanda Knox

I can’t tell you about book club and leave out the book we read! For April, we read Free: My Search for Meaning by Amanda Knox. We had a deep discussion about returning to ordinary life after trauma, the justice system, and forgiveness.

Milestone Moment

On Sunday, I hit 300 miles of my 1000-mile walking goal for the year! I’m right on schedule, averaging about 2.8 miles per day. I’ve only missed one day of walking in 2026 – a calculated “day-off” after a fun night out with friends. Sometimes I walk for 20 minutes and sometimes it’s 5 miles, it just depends on how much time I have that morning before work or kid activities.

Up Next

I just finished Ordinary Time by Annie B. Jones and the second book in The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion series. Over the weekend, I bought a new release for book club: This Story Might Save Your Life by Tiffany Crum.

Tomorrow is Independent Bookstore Day!

If you are looking for (another) reason to visit your local indie, you have one! Tomorrow is independent bookstore day with over 2000 bookstores across the country celebrating. Check out this list to find a bookstore near you. This would also be a great list to keep in mind for your next road trip.

This weekend we are booked and busy with kid sports, a theater production, and a birthday party. But I’m confident I will find some time to sneak away to read and hopefully visit a bookstore near me. I hope YOU have a wonderful weekend with lovely weather and a great book.
