Happy Saturday! This week was a wild ride in our house with all things back-to-school. Since this week’s newsletter is arriving on Saturday, I’m sharing six bookish things for your weekend!
It’s Bookstore Romance Day!
Today is Bookstore Romance Day! If you missed it, you can visit a local independent bookstore at any time to pick up the latest romance novel. If you need some inspiration, my two favorite romance authors are Emily Henry and Annabel Monaghan.

To Be Read
On the Tuesday TBR this week, I shared a 2027 release I’ve recently added to my to-be-read list. Taylor Jenkins Reid is an auto-read author for me, so I know her new book, The Last Days of Vic & Coco will be on my bookshelf or library hold list!

Recently Read
This week I finished Buckeye by Patrick Ryan. It arrived on audio and e-reader via Libby at the same time from my local library, so I was able to switch back and forth between listening and reading. Set in small-town in Ohio during WW2, the story follows two couples for several decades.
If you’re from the Bay Area, you probably recognize this reading sprint was on BART!

Currently Reading
Now I’m listening to the audiobook, Salt, by Mark Kurlansky for book club. I have to admit I was so surprised when this selection came through because I heard of this book years ago, and honestly never thought to pick it up. After I did some research, I discovered why it’s on everyone’s list 20 years later.

Saturday at the Library
Last Saturday my son and I headed to the Friends of the Walnut Creek Library Book Sale! Mark your calendars for the next sale on Saturday, December 12th from 10am-3:30pm.

We know a stop at the library isn’t complete without swinging by Prologue Coffee & Tea.

50 Years of Orinda Books 🎉
Orinda Books is having its 50th Birthday Celebration next Saturday, August 22nd! Learn more about the scavenger hunt, food, and prizes here. You can also enjoy a 20% discount in-store that day!

That’s it for this week. We have a fairly low-key weekend before all the Fall sports start. I need to spend some quality audiobook time on my book club book and I’m on the hunt to find a book to bedazzle. Send all the bedazzle recommendations my way!
Questions for your weekend:
- Do you have any 2027 releases on your TBR yet?
- Who is your favorite romance author?
- What’s a book you picked up 20 years after it was published? What made you pick it up?
