Earlier this week I was considering how long I will do my Lattes for Literacy project. I can’t make any promises, but it was hard for me to imagine a time in my adult life when I couldn’t save a few cents or a dollar on my daily coffee order to put toward local literacy programs. I hope I can do this for years to come!
I went into Week 5 with a balance of $18.90 and set aside another $8.05 during the week. That put me at a new balance of $26.95. Total saved over the past 5 weeks is $46.95 – check out which local program I supported with the first $20 I collected.
The next organization I plan to support is Project Second Chance, a local adult literacy program. On the site, it mentioned employer matching programs so I first need to investigate if my employer will match my upcoming donation!
There are a few options when it comes to supporting Project Second Chance financially. You can also become a tutor!
- Donation – check, credit card, paypal
- Amazon Gift List – coffee, snacks, books, supplies
An update: a few weeks ago, I became a member of the Friends of the Danville Library. This week, I received the welcome letter and this coupon for a free book from the bookstore! I’ll let you know which book I end up “buying!”
