It’s Day 8 of my 30 Days of Writing Project and today I’m sharing the “About” section of East Bay Bookshelf. I’ve been blogging for over 2 years, so I thought it was a great time to refresh this section on the blog. Enjoy!

Whether you are an avid reader, starting a new hobby, or are simply curious about life as a reader in the East Bay, I’m glad you’re here!
I started East Bay Bookshelf in 2024 after years of looking for a regular blog written by a regular reader where I live. I don’t read 100 books per year, and I can’t go to every single bookish event, but I can show you how to be part of a community of readers, libraries, and bookstores in the East Bay.

I’m a mom and I work full-time, so I fit reading into the margins of everyday life. I listen to audiobooks while I’m folding laundry, read a few pages on my e-reader during my son’s swim practice, and maybe read a few pages of a physical book before falling asleep at night.

If you ask me for recommendations, I definitely have a list of 5-star reads, historical fiction faves, and auto-read authors. But I love everything around books, too: bookstores, library sales, finding the best Little Free Libraries, and coffee shops (that’s book-adjacent, right?).

I’m an advocate for independent bookstores and local libraries, so on weekends and evenings I try to attend events like “The Friends of the Library” book sale or an author signing at a local bookstore.

Subscribe to my weekly newsletter for my book recommendations, reviews, and bookish adventures in the East Bay!
