Little Free Library Finds

It’s Day 9 of my 30 Days of Writing Project and today I’m sharing why I can’t resist taking a peek inside a Little Free Library.

Even if I don’t have a book to trade, I need to open the door and see what’s in there. If the selection is really good, I make a mental note to come back later with a book. It’s always such a thrill because I never know what I’m going to discover. I’m lucky enough to be around enough LFLs that are regularly stocked with some great reads. That was definitely the case this past week when I walked by one.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

I read this book in 2022, five years after it was published. It’s set in a picture-perfect Ohio suburb and follows two women and their families; one of the women is suspicious of the other woman’s past. This was one of Reese’s Book Club’s early selections in September 2017. Not surprisingly, Reese Witherspoon stars in the 8-episode mini-series. I’m adding it to my “to be watched” line-up!

The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther

I finished this a few weeks ago! It was a nice, quick escape after reading lots of non-fiction this year. Set on Martha’s Vineyard, this is a friends-to-lovers romance that hits on the topic of grief and the importance that family traditions have on human resilience.

And now, for a book I’ve heard of and I think I would like to read, but need to learn more:

Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler

The reason this one caught my attention is because I have so many Anne Tyler books on my TBR. I hear great things! Based on my research, I learned this one is a retelling of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. (I have never read that, so maybe I should?!) Set in Maryland, this asks what a modern woman would sacrifice for a man.

And finally, a book that’s on my TBR!

The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year by Ally Carter

I first heard of this one from Modern Mrs. Darcy in Fall 2024. It’s an enemies-to-lovers Christmas romance mystery. At just 293 pages, this might be a fun holiday book club selection; I’ll definitely keep it in mind for a November/December recommendation.

Check out a few of my other LFL adventures!
