Load My Kindle for a Weekend Getaway (with library books, of course!) 📚 📚

I mentioned in yesterday’s 5 on a Friday that I recently went to Arizona for a girls’ weekend! Every mood reader knows that before leaving on a trip, the e-reader needs to be loaded with a variety of genres for the train, plane, and for lounging by the pool.

Of course, I went straight to the Libby app to download e-books from my library! I sorted first by “Available Now” because I really didn’t have much time to wait for a hold to come in. If you are new to Libby, learn how to download books to your Kindle. It is a game changer!

I borrowed 5 books because I never know how I’m going to feel in the moment. (That’s a lie, I know I won’t ever be in the mood for a thriller.)

The Astral Library by Kate Quinn : I love Kate Quinn’s historical fiction, so when I found out she was writing a book about a time traveling library, I knew I had to read it. I also attended her author signing event at Rakestraw Books in Danville, so that means I’m basically a fan for life!

The Academy by Elin Hilderbrand and Shelby Cunningham: I have read a few of Elin Hilderbrand’s beach reads, but I’m so excited to read this novel she wrote with her daughter about the drama and scandal of boarding school life!

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab: I’ve only read one other novel by V.E. Schwab and it’s my favorite book of all-time. I also love her monthly newsletter delivered to my inbox. This one is a “A genre-defying novel about immortality and hunger.” Sign. Me. Up.

Best Offer Wins by Marisa Kashino: I’ve moved 8 times in the last 15 years so I know what it feels like to want to find the perfect house that’s going to make all your other dreams come true. This line in the description grabbed my attention: “A little stalking? Harmless. A bit of trespassing? Necessary. As Margo infiltrates the homeowners’ lives, her tactics grow increasingly unhinged…”

Taipei Story by R.F. Kuang: I read an R.F. Kuang novel for book club last year and I loved it, so when I saw this one was available, I downloaded it immediately. It’s a “coming-of-age novel that grapples with grief, language, and culture shock—all set against the backdrop of an unforgettable summer in Taipei.” Also, that cover + spredges.

I wish I could send out a poll for the first book I should pick up from this library stack, but I’m already halfway through this one!

So, tell me which book should be my second pick. Have you read any of these? What did you think?

Deals of the day!

I took a quick look to see if any of these books are on sale. They are not, but other books from the same authors are:
