5 on a Friday

Happy Friday! This week finally found us bundling up in coats and blankets, drinking hot chocolate, and trying on Halloween costumes. We have also been finalizing plans for the holiday season, it’s going to come quick!

I hope you enjoy today’s 5 on a Friday, including an e-book deal at the end!

TBR: Hollywood, Ending by John Green

Is it any surprise that Hollywood, Ending by John Green is a book I’d like to read? Probably not. It was recommended on one of my favorite podcasts.

Books I’ve Read and Loved from the Women’s Prize for Fiction Longlist

When the 2026 Women’s Prize for Fiction winner was announced it sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole. As I learned more about the prize and this year’s selection, I found myself looking back through the winners, shortlists, and longlists from previous years.

LFL Find: Strangers by Belle Burden

When I told my friend I picked this one up at an LFL she said, “It’s deeply disturbing and raw. I couldn’t put it down.” Of course that’s a 5-star review in my book!

Load My Kindle for a Weekend Getaway (with library books, of course!) 📚 📚

I recently went to Arizona for a girls’ weekend! Every mood reader knows that before leaving on a trip, the e-reader needs to be loaded with a variety of genres for the train, plane, and for lounging by the pool.

Beyond the Bookshelf: Boring Days Deserve More Credit

My son’s Saturday games were cancelled last weekend and so our family had a completely free weekend day! We quickly returned to regularly scheduled Sunday programming the following day, but I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this quote I heard recently: Boring days deserve more credit.

Before I wrap up, I wanted to let you know that there is a Jodi Picoult e-book on sale for $2.99! Not to be dramatic, but this is the book that made me fall in love with reading!

Questions for your weekend:

  • What’s on your TBR?
  • Have you read any of the books on the Women’s Prize for Fiction Longlist?
  • What would you do on a weekend day if all your plans were cancelled?
