Happy Fourth of July Weekend! We have had a very busy start to the summer with work, travel and kid camps, so we are ready for a 3-day staycation over the long weekend. But first, I’m excited to share this week’s 5 on a Friday: the book on my nightstand, the book in my ears, a mid-year check-in on my goals, my library book sale haul, and how I celebrated my birthday last weekend.
Enjoy!

On My Nightstand
I am a huge fan of books about the art world and there is no shortage of that in The Fine Art of Lying by Alexandra Andrews.
Clare is trapped inside a dark and treacherous art world filled with unscrupulous dealers and international criminals. What, exactly, has she gotten herself into . . . and how is she going to get herself, and her family, out?

In My Ears
I usually try to listen and read the same book, but not this weekend. I have two books going at the same time – I’ll let you know how I do!
As someone from small-town America, I love a multi-generational novel that follows ordinary families through the decades. That’s exactly why I selected Buckeye by Patrick Ryan as my current audiobook.
As their small Ohio town remakes itself in the postwar boom, the Salt and Jenkins families remain in each other’s orbit, and the consequences of choices made long ago begin to emerge, reshaping their lives in ways that will forever impact the next generation.

2026 Mid-Year Check-In
July 2nd was officially halfway day! You can read all about how I’m doing on my reading, writing, and mileage goals.

Library Book Sale Haul
Last weekend I visited the Friends of the Danville Library Book Sale and picked up 3 books for myself. Learn about my selections and which book I’m probably going to read first!

A Very Bookish Birthday Weekend
Last weekend I celebrated a birthday! And yes, books were involved.
Whether you are traveling, attending a parade, or just curling up with a few good books like me, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Questions for you:
